Pascal Albin – Le Meilleur (Official clip)

Case Départ is the return to the game of life for a new start… and it is also the musical and gastronomic reunion of two friends who lost touch with each other for a good thirty years after having met on the benches and in front of the stoves of a renowned Hotel School… It happened in 1987.

Pascal Albin and Nicolas Pailhes didn’t stop practicing their hobbies, composition and the mandolin for Pascal, the bass and musical poetry for Nicolas.

If one has been nourished for years by music throughout the world, the other has not stopped nourishing his customers in his famous restaurant in Richerenches in the Vaucluse.

After all this time, they met again as if they had left each other the day before, and with the help of a feeling, sharing their know-how, they came up with the idea of an album of songs, which they began by presenting : Case Départ, which evokes the luck of finding an opening on the road to a new adventure, Je réalise, where the influence of a loved one allows one to realize one’s dreams, then Le Meilleur, which wants to make us dance and sing, and Chambre avec vue, which invites us to meaningful purpose and achievement of ourselves.

The duo has surrounded itself with some very fine people.

For the music, there is Marcello Ferreira on musical direction and guitar, Renato Rocketh and Adriano Campagnani on bass, Heber Ribeiro and David Feldman on keyboards, Fred Luzignant on trombone, Mauro Beleu on drums, Thomas Garcia on sound recording, on texts by Nicolas and compositions in which Pascal and Nicolas have combined their talents.

For the video, Pedro Sodré directed and edited, Yadi Liu did the image and color grading, Rafael Martineau did the image, and Auguste Trichet was the camera assistant.

The cover art is again the work of Brazilian designer Albenzio Almeida. As for the photo, it is by Muriel Pellegrin.

The songs, with their swinging or resolutely pop rhythms, are now open to the public’s appreciation while awaiting the release of the full album.

The mandolas are original creations by Marseille luthier André Sakellarides.
The gypsy tenor guitar is a creation of Brazilian luthier Daniel Vilarim.

Au Cœur de mes Silences is the first album of previously unreleased songs by composer and mandolist Pascal Albin.

The musical repertoire is inspired by Brazilian and French traditional music in which we can find the vitality of the java waltz as well as the swing of the bossa nova.

The strings linking all these influences are those of the mandolin and of its cousin, the tenor guitar.

The instrument is at the heart of this intermingling… and it invites itself to be rediscovered in rhythms and melodies where it is not necessarily expected.

At Pascal Albin’s side are great representatives of Brazilian music such as Arthur Maia on bass, Kiko Continentino and Claudio Andrade on keyboards, Marcello Ferreira on guitar, Rodrigo Marchevsky on accordion, Jean Dumas and Felipe Tauil on percussion, Mauro Beleu on drums.

The literary pens of his French-speaking authors, Emmanuelle Boudier and Guy Carpiaux, take turns in a variety of inspired texts.

Carefully chosen by the artist, they conceal and highlight this poetry lived on a daily basis here and there…

There is just enough restraint in the expression to let the listener’s mind wander through personal experiences, whether lived or dreamt of.

The elegant and refined CD cover is the work of Brazilian designer Albenzio Almeida.
The ‘fabrics’ illustrations are by the famous carioca artist Gilson Martins.

As for the photos, they are by Fred Borba.
